Laptop Assembly Verification Using AI
Case Overview
Industry: Electronics / Manufacturing
Solution: SolVision
The Case
Laptop Assembly and Product Quality
Laptop assemblies consist of top and bottom casings, motherboards, memory modules, storage drives, batteries, screws, connectors, displays, and cooling modules. Manual assembly carries the risk of missing, misaligned, or partially seated components. Defective assemblies reduce device reliability and can lead to rework, returns, or customer complaints.
The Challenge
Detecting Assembly Defects at Scale
Manual inspection can be slow, inconsistent, and prone to human error, especially for small components like screws, connectors, and latches. High-volume production makes thorough manual QC impractical. Engineers need a system that can consistently detect missing, misaligned, loose, or faulty components in real time without slowing throughput.
The Solution
SolVision AI Assembly Verification
SolVision inspects laptop assemblies, detecting presence/absence and condition of critical components in real time. The AI model is trained using a golden sample — a fully assembled laptop verified as correct. This golden sample acts as a reference standard, allowing the AI to compare each new assembly against the ideal configuration.
Detection results are displayed immediately, highlighting missing, misaligned, or faulty components. As more images are processed, the AI vision system continuously refines the model, improving accuracy and reducing false positives. This approach provides consistent, repeatable inspection without slowing production, allowing QC engineers to catch defects before products leave the line.
